Jazz for Joy is presented by The Joy Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to connecting people with cancer to the joy and beauty of the creative arts. Some of the Joy Foundation's other programs are:

Lids for Laughter and Lids for Life are programs that use "lids" (hats), usually a negative icon of cancer, as the focus of a creative activity. In Lids for Laughter programs, people create make wild, whimsical and wonderful headpieces. It is a unique way to create positive energy and provide a safe and nurturing environment where feelings, ideas and resources can be shared. Lids for Life uses the same creative approach, but serves as an outreach tool to connect underserved communities with cancer education and screenings. St. Louis Community Healing Arts (SLCHA), and SLCHA for Kids makes it possible for people with cancer to replace isolation and fear with the positive energy of dance, theatre, music, comedy, opera and more. The Joy Foundation partners with local arts organization and entertainment venues who make tickets and other special experiences of the arts available for cancer patients and their families. A special SLCHA for youth provides children of all ages with unique opportunities to enjoy a variety of art and entertainment that re-ignite the fun and freedom of childhood.

The Joy Foundation was established in honor of Arlette (Joy) Feldt who died from ovarian cancer in 2001. Through "Arts as Healing" programs in hospitals and cancer-support organizations, and through collaborations with arts organizations that connect cancer patients and their families to art within the community, The Joy Foundation helps hundreds of people use creative expression to cope with the emotional burden of their illness.
